Winter Solstice Greeting Cards
Lord Of Misrule
A5 | blank inside | £3
Description on back of card
In England, the Lord of Misrule - known in
Scotland as the Abbot of Unreason was an officer
appointed by lot during Christmastide to preside
over the Feast of Fools. The Lord of Misrule
was generally a peasant or sub-deacon appointed
to be in charge of Christmas revelries, which often
included drunkenness and wild partying. As a God
form the Lord of Misrule is literally the life and
soul of the party! He is a trickster spirit, lewd
and sexual, drunken and abandoned who teaches
us through challenge encouraging us to see merit
in the occasional practice of surrendering our self
to excess and abandon!
Holly & Oak Kings

Description on back of card
The Holly King represents one half of the year, while
the other is personified by his counterpart and adversary
the Oak King - the two battle endlessly as the seasons turn.

while the Holly King is at his weakest. The Holly King begins
to regain his power and at the Autumn Equinox, the tables finally
turn in the Holly King's favour and the Oak King is slain and
the Holly King reigning supreme, his strength at its peak at Midwinter.
Star Of Bethlehem
A5 | blank inside | £3
Description on back of card
There are many thoughts and theories on what the Star of Bethlehem
might have actually been. Some say it was a falling star, a meteor
falling to earth as an omen of the coming messiah. Others believe it
was an angel heralding the Master Jesus's birth, in this school of
thought the Angel might be either Gabriel the Angel of the
Annunciation or Thaviel the Guardian Angel of Jesus. Either way the
star is a symbol of light and hope, of peace and good fortune, of
the return of truth and love. Here the star is portrayed as a great
angel of light blessing all those who receive this card with its wonder.
Snow Angel
A5 | blank inside | £3
Description on back of card
Some call the Angel of Snow Shelegiel and say that she was one of
the Angels Moses encountered in Heaven. She is the Angel who
brings the snow, covering the earth in her blanket of purifying white.
Snowfall has a very special power to silence the world and slow
down its hectic pace. Sparkling and beautiful it covers the world in a
magical hush cleansing and clearing and restoring all to its original
pure state. Rather than seeing the snow as an inconvenience try to
open your heart as you did when you were a child and experience
the snow as a thing of wonder and joy.
